Background

If I remember correctly, the first time I saw Tangled was in theaters when I was in France, so the first time I ever watched it was in French. I was with my cousins and my parents and their parents had to go do something together, so my grandparents who were babysitting us took us to go see the movie. It was amazing. 

 

 

Plot      

Flynn Rider tells the story of how he dies. It all started when a sick Queen, pregnant with a baby, sent out guards to find a flower made from a drop of sun who had the powers to heal the sick and make the old younger. Gothel, an old woman, used that flower to make herself younger by singing its song. One day she forgot to hide it and the castle guards found it and gave it to the Queen. The flower healed her and she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Gothel broke into the castle and tried to get a piece of the baby’s hair because the power of the flower had transferred to her, but once she cut the piece it went from a beautiful gold color to a brown and powerless strand of hair. She decided to kidnap the child and keep her locked in a tower where no one would find her. As Repunzel grew up her hair grew longer, and her want to see the lights that appear out of her window on her birthday grew as well. One day Flynn who had just stolen the crown with two thugs, climbs the tower to hide from the castles guards. Rapunzel knocks him out, hides his crown, and makes him a deal. He takes her to see the lights or he doesn’t get his crown back. He takes the deal and they set out on their journey. You’d have to watch the movie to meet all of the characters, and find out how he dies.     

 

Why I Liked it

I loved this movie so much. I don’t know why but rapunzel has always been one of my favorite stories. It was interesting to see Disney’s take on this story. My favorite character is Max, the horse because he has human attributes that make him a loving and funny character. The other characters in this movie also play a role that help the main characters throughout. It has an amazing fight scene that you don’t usually see in other Disney princess movies. 

 

 

Why I recommend this movie

I recommend this to anyone. I know it is a kids movie, but there are action and magic. It’s not the girliest movie out there either. It talks about love, sacrifice, and newfound friendship, which are good lessons. If you like Disney movies with amazing and catchy songs, then this movie is for you.  

 

Others reaction

Plenty of people have watched this movie and have loved it too. Many people gave it a good review on Rotten Tomatoes, saying it made them tap their toes to the beats of the songs, or see a new spin on a dull fairytale.

How it compares to other movies

I love this movie because it has more humor than the other Disney movies. There have been other takes of the same fairytale, but none have been as funny or cute as this one. It introduced new characters and a slightly different storyline than the original.
